The price was right and I got it for 20% off too.
I removed the red plaid fabric from around the base and ripped off the berries and pine cones that came on it.
I bought a string of lights (battery operated) but I can't recommend them. They aren't bright at all.
After Christmas last year I picked up some aqua decorations at Target and Walmart figuring I would have some use for them this year. I think they were 75% off. But I wasn't feeling it with the deep green of the tree so I decided to spray paint it with a light coat of ivory to give it a white washed look.
All that was left was to decorate! The ornaments came in a pack from Target and the skirt was from Walmart. The skirt covers the battery box and provides easy access to it.
My tree is the perfect little touch of Christmas I was looking for on my lanai. I probably spent less than $15 total. I was never one to buy things after Christmas before last year but I am glad I finally did. When I went through my storage boxes this year it was a pleasant surprise to come across my clearance bargains. If you have some old wreaths, garlands or trees consider giving them new life by changing them out with a little paint and some new decorations.

This turned out so pretty! I have to admit I thought it was bigger until I saw it with the furniture. Of course, I think the smaller, the more adorable! I have purchased the battery operated lights in the past, and found the same problem. You definitely turned this tree into a gem!
Tour little tree turned out soo sooo cute, love the blue little skirt and blue balls..
Hello! I am your newest follower.
This turned out so cute! I can't believe what you started with versus what you wound up with. The poor little tree was ugly! I have had that same experience buying something ugly at Ross and having the cashier rave about how cute it was. ;o)
Found you via Samaa @ honeysweethome.blogpost.com and congrats on your award! :o)
I like the modern colors you used to update your tree. It looks nice on your porch.
Hi Robin....Your tree is adorable! I like the aqua colors. Nice job!
Thanks for your visit and comment to my blog. By the way, work on your dollhouse for next Christmas! It will give you SO much joy. If you don't have room for it, you can decorate it and donate it to a worthy cause. Then they can sell raffle tickets for the winner! Ha! Full of ideas, aren't I?
Take care and have a wonderful holiday. Please come back to visit anytime. Susan
