I was tempted to do this table outside since the light is so much better but then I realized how perfect my Dining Room is for this "jungle" theme.
Here's a better look at the place mats. I don't know where she got them but I'm sure Elaine will tell us in her post.
I decided to mix square and round dishes together. I started with a black crocodile print charger (Ross). The ivory dinner plate is from Old Time Pottery, the black salad plate is from Walmart and the appetizer plate is from Marshall's.
The black glasses are from Dollar Tree and Bed, Bath and Beyond.
The napkin rings are from Walmart.
A few weeks ago I asked my readers for suggestions on where to find bamboo flatware. I found it last week at Home Goods and it was only $14.99! It's pretty well made for that price too. I think it goes perfectly with this place setting. Hmmm....I think Elaine has a set. Do you think she used it too?
My centerpiece is a candle holder that I filled with faux greens with a jungle look to them. I added the feathers just because I liked the way they looked. I hid the stems by stuffing the bottom of the container with an animal print scarf.
I added bamboo candlesticks (clearance at Marshall's) on either side and added a bit of whimsy with the elephant candles (Ross). I like that all of them are a bit distressed.
I made a cake stand out of an animal print dinner plate topped with a glass dome and sitting on a candle stand.
I found this set of votives and tray at Ross and decided that would be the last touch. It would be easy to go overboard with "jungle" this and that but I decided to keep it simple.
Thanks for stopping by and make sure to see what Elaine's tablescape
(Creating Wonderful Spaces) looks like with the same placemats.
I will be joining the following parties...
Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the
Porch
Let's
Dish! at Cuisine Kathleen
Tabletop Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life
What's
It Wednesday at Ivy and Elephants
LOL! I got the placemats at a thrift store, but they were new in the packages. They probably had a dozen sets for sale. And, we must mention that it was just one of the gifts I gave you! :)
ReplyDeleteI think we did more in common this time! Mixing round and square, bamboo flatware (Yay, you bought some!), we both got a little jungle-y, you with your elephants, me with my masks, and we kept to the same color palette! I like how you placed the napkins, and the feathered centerpiece is very exotic! I almost bought feathers! I had a blast with this one (maybe because I did it yesterday and not today!) and I look forward to the next one!
You guys are sisters to the nth power!!! While your tables contain similar elements, they both let your individual personalities shine. It would appear that Elaine has the most opportunity for good thrift shopping while you go for the store sales & clearances. Different method, same results: great stuff!!! Very clever to use the print scarf to disguise the stems!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou and Elaine have done great jobs using the same placemats then adding your own elements. Such fun for both of you and for all of us to get to visit and see your creativity. Thanks for sharing and all of your elements of good. Wish I would have seen black goblets at Dollar Tree.
ReplyDeleteI think this is such a wonderful idea to do the Sister Act (I & II). I can't wait to click the link and see what your sister does.
ReplyDeleteYour jungle theme is wonderful! I can't believe you have so many elements to use for it.
And I really love the cake plate you made, too.
I love your presentation! You mix of square and round turned out great and your centerpiece too! You guys are too cute! Sister Act II! I am the baby of four sisters but none of them do this! I've been looking for bamboo flatware too but I'm always shocked at the price! Looks like you did good!
ReplyDeleteI like what both of you did! I think this is so cute that you guys are doing this! Hugs to sisters!
Love it! Just enough 'jungle' without going overboard! Great mix of colors and patterns. I want that flatware also...heading to HG tomorrow!! I can't wait to visit Elaine and she what she did! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteThis is just as equally beautiful as Elaine's. You are truly sisters, Robin. And I love your elephant candle holders also...Christine
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful. How fun to have you and your sister using the same placemats. I see some similarities and I think that might mean you are sisters!
ReplyDeleteHow much fun this had to have been. It turned out fabulous. Love the wild jungle theme you picked up on. Your placesettings are fabulous. love the new flatware too. and I think the centerpiece is perfect.. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteFor some reason wimo wet , wimo wet, keeps gping through my head! In the jungle...
ReplyDeleteGreat job, the feathers in the centerpiece are perfect!
Love those napkin rings too, they pick up the color in the flatware. I looked in HG but they didn't have the bamboo look.
Sister Act was fun, thanks for linking to Let's Dish!
Well, I'm thinking that you are both two sophisticated ladies. Interesting how some of your elements were the same, and yet, you both created totally different looks. This was fun! Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteLove it, Robin!! Those elephant candle holders are to "die for"! The whole table sets the perfect mood! I love that you and your sister are doing this. When my daughter, granddaughter, and I were doing our Tablescape Times Three blog, we used to use the same china once a month. It was always fun to see the "vision" of the other person. Keep this up - it is great!
ReplyDeleteThis is just so much fun! I love your elephant candle holders. Just great elements all put together for this great scape! You are right, your dining room is just perfect for this theme!
ReplyDeleteLadies we have a tie! How fun to see the two different, yet, similar tables! I love the bamboo candle holders and the cake plate is pure genius! That you ladies for sharing with us. I can't wait for your Sister Act III (unlike the movie version!).
ReplyDeleteOh wow, such great sisters, I am totally loving your animal prints table...this is the third I've seen at Tablescape Thursday and all are terrific! You both have made different similar tablescapes, lol..The bamboo candle holders are adorable and perfect, along with the small candle holders too. The cake plate is fabulous to perfection!! Hugs,
ReplyDeleteFABBY
